Born Diana Frances Spencer and as the youngest child in the family of the Viscount of Althorp, Diana, Princess of Wales had an uneasy childhood. Barely six years after she was born on July 1, 1961, her parents split and she, her brother and two sisters soon found themselves amidst a dispute for guardianship. Helpless Diana spent her early life in a boarding school. She never could fare well in her education but remained a loving pupil for her friends and teachers.

In 1978 after school she engaged herself in menial jobs, sometimes as an assistant in school and at times as a cook or nanny in the house of an American couple. But her fate was destined to usher her into family of the British royalty. At age nineteen her friendship with 13-years older Charles, Prince of Wales bloomed into sublime love that culminated into one of the worlds most watched events ever. It was their marriage that was solemnized on July 29, 1981 at the St Paul’s Cathedral.

In the years that followed, Diana gave birth two sons, Prince William and Prince Henry. But the real events in Diana’s life were yet to unfold. Soon her disagreements with the royal family began to surface and resulted in disintegration of the couple and finally into inevitable separation in August 1996.

Thereafter, she kept herself engaged with the work of charity that she had begun during the days after her marriage. Ever since she remained the most famous icon and the most sought after personalities of the media particularly the photographers. It was this fad obsession of the media that eventually took her life on August 30, 1997 in a Paris underpass as she with her millionaire friend Dodi Fayed sped in their car to escape attention of the press.

Diana lived a very short but eventful life. She was never a part of the royal family nor did she ever enjoy a position of authority. She was not in the business of glamour neither did she promote her image for the cause of popularity. Yet she remained the most famous and charismatic celebrity of her time and the times to come. Indeed her life will be remembered as the most tragic fairy tales that world has ever heard.
