The Sri Guru Granth Sahib states:
"WAHE GURU IS YOUR REAL SELF"

More from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib:
EK OMKAR PRAYER (MOOL MUNTAR)

Ek Omkar

There is only one Creator
Sat-naam Whose name is eternally true
Kartaa-purakh He is the sole Creator
Nirbhau He is without fear
Nirvair He is inimical to none
Akaal-moorat He never dies
Ajoonee saibhang He is beyond births and deaths, he is self illuminated
Gurprasaad He is realized by the grace of the true Guru (dispeller of ignorance)
Jap Repeat his name
Aad sach He was true in the beginning
Jugaad sach He was true when the ages commenced and has ever been true
Hai bhee sach He is also true now
Nanak hosee bhee sach Satguru Nanak says that he will always be true in the future

The fact that Paramatama is the sole Reality, the sole Creator, the sole Sustainer, the sole Destroyer, the sole Doer and the sole Experiencer of everything within and beyond the Cosmos is reiterated again and again and again in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib as shown in the following excerpts from Japji Sahib, Rahiras, Kirtan Sohila and Sri Raga (with any related commentary in parenthesis):

MORE FROM THE SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB

Know thus O Nanak ! that the True One is all by Himself. That Pure One is all in all Himself. He is neither established nor created by any one. * Pg 2: 67-72

(Note: Just as an ocean whilst creating everchanging forms of waves upon it's surface itself remains as it always was - with nothing added not taken away from it's whole, so Paramatama creates countless forms and dramas within Himself and yet remains completely unaffected. Whether ones consciousness perceives an ocean or a wave, both are still water regardless of size or shape - the only difference is perspective. Within Paramatama countless forms like the waves on the surface of an ocean come and go endlessly, but the divine ocean from which they all come and in whom they all live and who is their real Self being none other than Paramatama Himself is everlasting).

The Name's believer walks not in the worldly ways, ritualistic religious paths. * Pg 3: 68-69

(Note: The true believer of the Name does not walk in worldly or ritualistic paths because he does not believe this world to be somewhere over here while God is somewhere else in a separate space, in a far away spiritual universe watching and judging us from afar.

The true believer understands that all creation exists within God Himself and recognizes that God is witnessing and experiencing everything everywhere, because God Himself is within everything. For the true name's believer the whole world and all forms of life within it are divine, for those of clear vision the whole world is a divine Gurudawara).

There are more worlds beyond (this) earth, more and more. What power is there that supports their weight from underneath? (Pg 3: 37-42)

Whoever heartily hears, believes and loves God's name, obtains salvation by thoroughly bathing in the shrine within himself. (Pg 4: 31-38)

(Note: Although Paramatama is within everyone and everything, this isn't experienced by the world at large due to the severe limitations of perception within the human body. All perceptions are ultimately a result of the information received from the limited mind, ego and senses which together create endless sensations and desires that keep one focused for the most part only in the external world, keeping one completely blind and ignorant of the divine source of one's own existence within.

A simple analogy would be to consider that a wave that is focused only on the surface of the ocean, will only see countless additional waves that seem to be similar yet quite separate and distinct from itself. If the wave can control those things such as mind, ego and senses that keep it intensely attached only to the surface impermanent 'reality' - then it is able to turn it's focus backwards within itself to look behind itself, to actually look underneath it's own surface.

The moment the wave succeeds in turning it's focus below it's own surface, immediately it realizes that it's not a small temporary wave after all but is in fact the whole Ocean. It becomes as clear as daylight that ALL forms of life on the surface are made out of the one body of the Ocean Itself, that the Ocean is in all the waves, and all the wave are in the Ocean. The limited mind, ego and senses however paint an intensely different picture that tuned into a only a limited bandwidth of perception show separateness that appears to be reality when in truth it's only a small part of the whole picture.

By looking below it's own surface and seeing the true source substance of it's own existence, the wave sees that everything everywhere is the same One entity, and that by hurting or giving love to another wave it is ultimately hurting or giving love to it's own Self since it's real nature is that of the Ocean which is also all other waves. Therefore the age old phrase - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you cannot be considered impractical).

Make brotherhood with all the highest sect of yogic order and deem the conquering of self (one's real Self) the conquest of the world. * Pg 6: 81-85

(Note: Just as the drop of water is in the ocean and the ocean is in the drop of water, even so man must realize his Oneness with the substance of which he has been created and in which he lives, breathes and moves, and therefore also recognize the sameness and Oneness within all other forms of life. To those of clear understanding, the whole world becomes divine since everything is made of the same divine substance).

They in whose heart God abides die not and nor are they hoodwinked. The saints of various worlds dwell there. They make merry, that True Lord is in their hearts. In the realm of truth abides the Formless Lord. * Pg 8: 43-54

(Note: They who have recognized their own true Self, the divine substance of whom they are created are no longer fooled by the world of duality, because they see the One God shining within all things, having risen above duality - such as good and bad, wealth and poverty, etc - in all diversity they see One divine reality).

He who created the creation is and shall also be. He shall not depart when the creation shall depart (disappear). God, who fashioned the world, has by various contrivances created the creation of various colors and kinds. Having created the creation, He as it pleases His Honor, beholds His handiwork. * Pg 9

God is Himself the Master and Himself the servant. * Pg 10: 3-4

(Note: Since Paramatama alone is within everything, He Himself is both Master of the universe and at the same time is the true experiencer through all the diverse forms He has created within Himself. This whole spectacle of the universe is nothing but His own Self-experience and Self-expression - phrased by many mystics as Raab Di Lila - God's Cosmic Play).

Thou, O venerable and unique God art uninterruptedly contained in all hearts and in everything. Some hast Thou made donors of charities and some as beggars, all this is Thy wonderful play. Thou Thyself art the Giver and Thyself the Enjoyer. Beside Thee I know of none other. * Pg 11: 12-25

(Note: Our senses, mind and ego make us think we as separate individuals are the witness, doer and experiencer of all the dramas in our lives, but the mind, ego and senses are created by and live within Paramatama. These 3 living within and being a part of God Himself by design nevertheless create a false illusion of individuality and separateness although they themselves have no individuality nor separateness from Paramatama. Ultimately then, it cannot be any other than God alone that is the true Witness, Doer and Experiencer of everything everywhere through all these countless forms He has created within Himself for His own Self-expression and Self-experience).

Thou art the river, and all are within Thee. Beside Thee, there is none else. * Pg 11

(Note: There is nothing anywhere at anytime that is not Paramatama Himself. He alone is the Supreme Reality and the true Self of all just as water is the true Self of all little puddles, rivers, oceans and waves).

This human body has come to thy hand. This is thy chance to meet the Lord of the world. Other works are of no avail to thee. Joining the society of saints, contemplate over the Name (God) alone. Make effort for crossing the dreadful world-ocean. In the love of worldliness, the human life is passing in vain. * Pg 12: 25-44.

(Note: Animals cannot realize their true Self consciously since they are ultimately bound by instinct far more than intellect. Humans however are blessed predominantly with a mind that has the potential to discriminate between right and wrong, good and bad, happiness or unhappiness, etc. Man through laziness can as with an ocean wave simply submit to the tyranny of the mind, ego and senses and remain focused only the impermanent everchanging ocean surface which shows only a small part of the whole picture of reality. Or by using the powers of discrimination he can attract the grace of the Ocean in order to quieten and conquer the limited mind, ego and senses which enables him to recognize his Oneness with the neverchanging infinite Paramatama resulting in permanent peace. If one is happy, one can also be sad, these are changing emotions in a world of duality - one cannot exist without the other to contrast it against. True happiness being of the lasting type therefore can only be found between both contraries of happiness and unhappiness in peace alone.

As seconds, minutes, hours, quarters of a day, lunar days, weekdays, months and several seasons spring from the lone sun, even so - many forms originate from the Creator, O Nanak ! * Pg 12 & 13: 29-44.

(Note: Just as all the divisions of time originate from the movements of sun, so all the seemingly diverse forms of creation emerge from the one Paramatama alone).

Thousands are Thine eyes, yet Thou hast no eye. Thousands are Thine forms, yet Thou hast not even one. Thousands art Thine pure feet, even then Thou hast not one foot. Thousands Thine noses and yet Thou art without a nose. I am bewitched by these plays of Thine. Amongst all there is a light and that light art Thou. By His (God's) light, the light shines within all souls. * Pg 13: 76-100.

(Note: Just as ice, water and steam are merely the same source in a different form, even so Paramatama is the one source of all appearing in countless trillions of forms. And yet He is above and beyond all limited and temporary forms even as an ocean has many waves on it's surface, but as waves continue to come and go, the deep everlasting ocean remains as it always was - the Ocean is all the waves on it's surface and yet infinitely more below the surface).

He whom the God awakens to drink the essence of His Name comes to know the discourse of the ineffable Lord. Purchase only that commodity for which thou hast come. Through Guru's grace God shall dwell within thy heart. In thy own home (your own heart) thou shalt obtain the Lord's presence in comfort and ease and thou shalt not undergo the round again. * Pg 13: 14-26

(Note: God Himself is the unseen director of this world drama, those who awaken to the truth of the divine nature of the whole universe do so only by the will of their own true nature and higher Self which is God. All forms of existence are God Himself, the Guru is a consciously purer manifestation of God in human form, and comes only to tell man that the God he is worshipping externally although existing within all creation is to be perceived directly within himself.

Realizing the eternal and divine substance of which his mind, body and soul are made, man arises above the illusion of individuality and separateness from all other forms of creation and becomes free from the round of reincarnation created by the power of Maya who is also Paramatama Himself).

I am convinced after consulting my Guru that there is no other place (except God). * Pg 14: 59:62

The Giver has given man intoxicating pill of falsehood. * Pg 15: 14

(Note: God alone being the true substance in all beings, cannot by design be easily perceived and experienced due to the severe limitations of the senses of perception. For example the eyes cannot see all the frequencies of light, the ears are unable to perceive all the frequencies of sound, etc, even eagles have better vision then man whilst dogs in many instances have a wider range of hearing or smell, etc. Through the very limited senses we perceive only a very small part of the whole picture.

Adding to the world illusion, the mind colors all perceptions coming through the senses with inherent prejudices - the likes and dislikes of the ego, etc. As a result the unreal - this apparently 'solid' material world - which is not solid but only appears to be so - is seen as the supreme reality, whilst the Supreme Reality (Paramatama) is for all intents and purposes is considered to be unreal, since He cannot by His own deliberate design be easily perceived through the limited senses, mind and ego. Maya is to think of the real as unreal whilst thinking of the unreal as real).

Why should we in our mind grow oblivious of Him who is the owner of our soul and life? *Page 16: 74-77

(Note: Since God alone is the substance of all forms of creation, He Himself is our mind, body and soul. As a result it's inaccurate to think that "I am God" since individuality is merely an intense illusion created by mind, ego and senses. Just as a wave is a part of the ocean, at the same time the Ocean is the wave and all waves and infinitely more below the surface and beyond. In the same manner the form of no one person is the sum total of God although it is a part of Him. A wave cannot exist without the Ocean but the reverse is not true. It's more accurate to realize that "God has made me, I as a distinct person do not exist since God alone exists within me and all else, He has made me and all else out of Himself."

Our individual consciousness exists only as a result of the efforts of the mind, ego and senses which together create the feeling of "I", "me" or "mine." The mind, ego and senses cannot exist for a moment without God as their substance and foundation just as a wave cannot exist for a moment without the underlying ocean. And yet these three by design create an seemingly real but ultimately false impressions to fool the Soul into believing that it is actually the sum total of only the mind, body and senses, and that as such it is separate and distinct from all other forms of creation.

Since mind, ego and senses cannot exist for a moment without God and exist even now only by living within God - since they have no separate, individual existence of their own whatsoever - the perception of individuality, distinctness and separateness created by the feeling of "I", "me" and "mine " through these 3 liars is therefore completely false, it is a complete mis-perception.

However this mis-perception is created by God's own design in order to more deeply entrench Himself within His Lila through His human forms. By His own design, Paramatama enlightens some of His forms as to their true nature which is He - who become the true saints and mystics of all paths and religions - whilst at the same time He deliberately misleads others to the path of ignorance all according to His will. The whole world of illusion being His own Self-expression and Self-experiencing is His own endless Lila - Cosmic Play - which thrives on the contrasts within duality).

Peace accrues when He, who is the owner of the soul and life, abides in man's mind. This world is like a drama staged in a dream, in a moment this play ends. *Pg 18 31-40

(Note: This world which seems to be solid and real but is neither solid nor real since it is always undergoing constant change. Ultimately it seems to be real only to the degree that we perceive it. Since every particle within the universe is made of atoms, and atoms being made up of sub-atomic particles in turn emerge from a field of pure unbridled energy, the deepest mystery for the scientist is the origin of this field of pure energy, from where does it come, how did it come into being, etc. Yet there have been men and women who have displayed complete mastery over this field of energy that appears to be solid in certain forms. According to the testimony of such men and women who are the true saints and mystics of all paths, this field of pure energy emerges from a field of pure consciousness and this field of consciousness emerges from and is Paramatama Himself. Therefore God is the owner of the soul and all life since all existence lives within and is Him just as all waves of water live within and ultimately are the Ocean Itself).

By casting His gracious glance, God washes off man's filth (misperception and binding tendencies created by the limited mind, ego and senses) and in his very home (body) he comes to realize the Lord's presence. * Pg 18: 23-28

The blind man has forgotten the Name. * Pg 19: 99

(Note: Man is blind again due to the mis-perception created by the limited mind, ego and senses which make see separateness and distinctions where ultimately none exist, whilst at the same time hiding God who is the light within all forms of creation).

By true service one meets the True Lord and obtains Guru's instructions. That man gets immune of both and death. He neither comes nor goes. * Pg 19: 16-27.

(Note: By service to others who are really God Himself in a different form, God comes in the form of an enlightened Guru to help man realize that the God he is worshipping externally is his true Self and is to be experienced within himself. The receiver of such grace arises above the illusion of duality and is free from karma and therefore rebirth. Karma is applicable only to the ego and he who has conquered mind, ego and senses can have no more karma and without karma there is no need for rebirth).

Without the Name, man is knocked about in rebirth. The love of duality has drowned multitudes of men. * Pg 19: 47-51.

Whence they are born, thence do they merge. The True Lord is fully filling every heart. God Himself unites man in His union, and he then sees the True mansion close by (within everything and everyone). * Pg 20: 51-62

My soul and body are Thine and Thou art my Master. Rid me of ego and merge me in Thee. * Pg 20: 73-82

Know that the good perceive the Divine Light and the perverse fools remain in spiritual darkness. He who perceives God's light within every heart comes to understand the essence of Guru's teaching. Do applaud the pious persons who understand the Lord * Pg 20: 87-100

O my soul ! by understanding thy own self (that which is within you) and meditating on God, through the Guru, thou shall be released (from ignorance, suffering and rebirth). * Pg 20: 70-72

Nanak ! the True Guru has united me in the union of that Lord who is ever with me. * Pg 20: 92-94

Cast away thy doubt, meet the Guru (dispeller of darkness/ignorance) and thou shalt know the condition of the innerself

(Note: Through the grace of God in the form of an enlightened Guru physical or non-physical, one realizes one's true Self as Atma/Soul which has always been one with Paramatama, but has been deluded into perceiving separation and individuality by the mind, ego and senses and their resulting desires that for a time bind Atma through mis-perception to the external seemingly solid material world that is sold as the supreme reality).

In the universe, the union of sensitivities and stupefaction, wherever I see, I find God pervading there. * Pg 21: 58-62.

Who forget not God's Name even for a moment and an instant, such persons are rare in this world. * Pg 21: 69-76

When human light blends with the Supreme Light and the union of wisdom is effaced with the universal wisdom, then mortal's killing instinct and egotism depart and suscepticism and sorrow afflict him not. The Guru-ward, within whose mind abides the Lord, him the Guru unites with Lord's union. * Pg 21: 77-92

By erasing self-conceit (ego) man attains peace, and like water merging with water, blends with the Lord. * Pg 22 60-65.

He, who has not met the Divine True Guru (God), bothers and suffers in the terrible life-ocean (material external world of duality). This soul jewel (Atma which is always one with Paramatama) is priceless. In this way it is being lost in exchange for a shell (body). * Pg 22. 77-81.

Lord Himself is the Relisher. Himself the Relish and Himself the Enjoyer of the Relish. He Himself is the Bride and Himself the Couch and the Bridegroom. My Master is dyed with love and is fully pervading everywhere. He Himself is the Fisherman and the fish and He Himself is the water and the net. He Himself is the metal ball of the net and Himself the bait within. * Pg 23: 36-53.

(Note: God is within everything, God is everything, Paramatama alone is the sole and true experiencer of everything, there is nothing at any time or anywhere that is not Paramatama for He is everything. Forms like waves on an ocean continue to emerge and disappear in the universe, but their substance God like the ocean below the waves is neverchanging and everlasting).

He who recognizes his own self (the divine substance of which he has been created) comprehends Him. * Pg 25: 77-80.

Thou art the river, All-knowing and All-seeing. How can I, a fish find thy limit? Wherever I look, there Thou art. Getting out of Thee I burst and die. * Pg 25: 87-100.

I know not the fisherman, nor do I know the net. When pain comes, then, do I call on Thee. Thou art everywhere and in everything, I thought Thee distant. Whatever I do, that is in Thine presence. Thou see-est my actions, yet I deny. I have not performed Thy service, nor have I pondered on Thy Name. Whatever Thou givest me, that I eat. There is no other door (supreme reality), to which other door should I go? Nanak makes one supplication, my soul and body are all at Thy disposal. * Pg 25: 2-32.

The Guru-wards get mentally detached from the world, and their soul remains blended with God (the true Self of all). I am a sacrifice unto those who enjoy the taste of God's name. * Pg 26: 23-28

He whom God Himself unites meets Him and remains blended with Him. * Pg 27: 27-32.

The One Lord is dwelling amongst all. He, the Unique One is pervading everywhere. He, to whom God Himself becomes Merciful, gets absorbed in His Name, by Guru's grace. * Pg 27: 37-46.

By coming in contact with the invaluable personality of Guru, purer manifestation of one's real Self which is Paramatama in human or spirit form), the mortal becomes invaluable himself and his light is absorbed in the Supreme Light. * Pg 27: 77-80.

(Note: Through the grace of God via the Guru who is His consciously purer channel, mind, ego and senses are vanquished and quietened whereby the Atma consciously becomes aware of what was always present - the eternal oneness of Atma and Paramatama. Therefore the blending of the human light is not attaining enlightenment, but the elimination of ignorance whereby one realizes and recognizes what has always been true, that the Supreme Light is the true Self of oneself and of all others, that all creation has and shall always be One. Everything is One with God, everything is divine, the only difference between an enlightened man and an ignorant man is that one knows this truth and the other does not, but enlightened or ignorant, this truth is everpresent).

Ye saints, see with the searching glance that God abides close by and is fully pervading everywhere. * Pg 27: 45-51.

Who has the light of God's Name within his mind, he becomes permanent forever and ever. * Pg 28: 87-90.

(Note: This is the same as Atma instead of having the consciousness of temporary waves that come and go, looking below the surface realizes it's source and foundation and thereby increases it's consciousness to that of the whole Ocean and all waves. From limited and seemingly individual and separate temporary consciousness to unlimited and everlasting united consciousness. Instead of losing individuality and consciousness one would be going from limited consciousness to super-consciousness, from severe limitations to complete freedom, instead of alternating between happiness and misery to everlasting joy).

The words of dualism makes man miserable. The man within whose heart is discrimination and reflection, by intermingling he intermingles not (with apostates). * Pg 28: 37 42.

(Note: Dualism equals contrary concepts such as hot and cold, good and bad, happy and sad, wealth and poverty, etc. These contraries are real only to the degree that they are perceived but ultimately they are false and illusive since in truth they are always everchanging and cannot exist without an opposite for contrast, i.e. no one is hot and cold, good or bad, happy or sad all the time and you could never measure or appreciate good unless you had bad to compare it against, etc.

However, God who is the substance of all of these is neverchanging and is the true reality within all since He exists without any opposite. The sole reality within all these everchanging contraries again is the One Paramatama, since everything emerges from the One source without any second, all contraries are ultimately false and exist as perceived reality only through mis-perception.

The truth seeker of clear vision rejects these contrary illusions because (a) they cannot exist without an opposite and (b) although appearing as dual concepts they emerge from a singular source, so their duality is therefore false and (c) since they are impermanent - i.e. no one is happy or sad all the time, these emotions are everchanging and can never provide peace which is the only path to lasting happiness.

Such a truth seeker therefore keeps his mind focused on the never changing Supreme Reality behind and within all contrary concepts within this plane of duality, and although he lives and moves in this world of duality and may even keep the company of the wise and ignorant, the good and bad, etc - not being attached to either he is therefore affected by neither. The man of discrimination lives within the world, but he is non-affected by the illusive duality of the world created by mis-perception).

O' Brother, being engrossed in duality, the world is in misery. By seeking sanctuary of the Guru, and by night and day remembering the Name, obtain peace. * Pg 29: 96-100.

(Note: By remaining focused on Paramatama who is the source and foundation of all contraries, the truth seeker arises above the everchanging tides perceived within the illusion of duality, taking his focus off the everchanging reality on the surface of the Ocean to the deeper reality below the surface, to the origin of the everchanging surface itself which is eternally calm and neverchanging).

They who are engrossed in the short lived play, are of avail neither in this world nor in the next one. * Pg 29: 33-35.

Nanak, God is obtained through the Guru. He Himself understands His own self. * Pg 30: 8-9.

(Note: All Self-realization of the divine nature of oneself and all creation is in truth always Paramatama realizing his own true Self from within one of His human frames. From the outside of the body He provides the grace that enables Self-realization through the intercession of a physical or non-physical Guru, and from within the human frame he experiences the joy and bliss of conscious reunion of what was always united but falsely perceived itself to be separate. Everything occurs to His will since all creation is His own Lila/play albeit via mind, ego and senses which have no separate or individual existence of their own, man has an intense although illusive perception of separation and free-will).

Nanak, God and the Guru have two forms but they have the same One Light. It is by the word that mortal attains to the union with God. * Pg 30: 52-55.

Within the abides God. Do thou attain to peace by serving the Guru. * Pg 33: 25-28.

The True One merges in him in Himself, who egotism and and egoism stand eliminated. * Pg 35: 54-56.

This world is asleep in an illusion and in sleep the night (life) passes away. Some He delivers of His own will and unites with Himself. He Himself abides within man's mind and drives off love of mammon. He Himself bestows honor and causes Himself to be understood through the Guru. The Lord alone is the giver for all. He corrects those in error. He Himself has misled some and has attached them to duality. Under Guru's instruction God is attained and man's soul (Atma) merges with the Supreme Soul (Paramatama). * Pg 36.

(Note: God and Guru are one, just as all creation and God are one because all creation lives within God. Ultimately God, Guru and devotee are One, although the only difference is that the devotee is often ignorant of this truth which is why he needs the grace of the Guru. The devotee never chooses the Guru, the Guru always chooses the devotee. Paramatama Himself is both the Guru and the devotee and all else.

Since the devotee like the Guru has no individual and separate existence from Paramatama, how could he independently choose the Guru who is but a purer manifestation of Paramatama Himself in human form? Since Paramatama is everything, He Himself in the form of the Guru chooses to enlighten Himself in the form of the devotee - it's all His own Lila?).

Everything the Lord Himself is. There is no second. When that Lord Himself causes us to speak, we speak just as He wants us to speak. * Pg 39: 15: 24.

I am an idiotic fool for I say: "I have done this and I will do that." I have forgotten the real Doer and am in love with duality. * Pg 39.

(Note: The sense of individuality created by the mind, ego and senses is false because again these three have no individual separate existence, they exist and live in and are a part of God. Paramatama being the sole substance of everything, ultimately He alone is the sole individual and sole Doer, the sole Creator, the sole Sustainer, the sole Destroyer and the sole Experiencer through all these diverse forms within Himself. Mind, ego and senses by Paramatama's own design make it very difficult to perceive this truth).

Within is the pain of ignorance and superstition. Between man and the Lord lies the separating screen (created by the limited mind, ego, senses and desires). * Pg 40: 45:52.

God Himself is the Sat Guru, Himself the Lord and Himself unites man in His union. Making man follow the Great True Guru (purer manifestation of the spirit of God with or without form), mercifully blends him with Himself. In this world, the Lord Himself is the life of the entire universe. Like water merging with water, O' Nanak, God's slave gets absorbed in God. * Pg 41: 35-50.

Nanak is imbued with love of God, whose light is pervading the entire universe. * Pg 42: 19-22.

Everything is in the power of the Master. He Himself is the Doer of deeds. * Pg 43: 84-87.

He alone performs the service of the True Guru, who is rid of the affliction of ego. * Pg 45: 24-28.

The One Lord is within thy home (body) and the One without. He Himself is found within all places. * Pg 45: 67-71.

Beside God, there is no other second. On His Name alone, do thou meditate. * Pg 46: 84-87.

By separating, He separates not and is contained amongst all. * Pg 46: 46-49

The Lord of the world is the comrade of those who are so pre-destined. * Pg 47: 22-26.

Pervading God ever sees, hears and is just near. He resides in every heart. * Pg 47: 35-40.

The perverse and impious beast understands not Him who Created Him. Who is pervading within and without; Him he deems to be distant. * Pg 47: 85-97.

The Lord Himself does and causes others to do. Everything is in His hands. He Himself slays and revives. Within and without, He is with the mortal. * Pg 48: 79-88.

From whom dost thou hide thine evil deeds, since the ever present Lord is beholding thee? My fully pervading Lord is pervading in all places. * Pg 48: 40-50.

I have seen with me the Lord for seeking whom I assumed this body. The Lord who filleth the water, earth and space beholdeth everyone with His grace. * Pg 48: 86-97.

The Guru is the Donor, the Guru is the Omnipotent Being and the Guru is contained amongst all. The Guru is the Supreme Lord and the Transcendent Master. The Guru saves the drowning ones. * Pg 49: 50-56.

The Unique Lord, who did create the Universe is the Designer of chances. * Pg 51: 96-100.

(Note: Within the realm of freewill and destiny, all external coincidences, chance encounters, etc are non-coincidental and are created by Paramatama specifically to act upon our mind, ego and senses according to His will. Everything is already predestined due to the predictability of the reactions of our ego within a set environment.

How can one assume to have free will when there was no choice in the matter of choosing one's family or environment in the form of country to be born in, etc, which all affect deeply one's character. For example a child born in the US will have a very different world outlook and a wider range of opportunities than one born in a refugee camp in a war torn country. To say that the environment and family does not affect character and outlook is nonsensical, yet not having the choice of which environment to be born and raised in, how can a man believe that he has complete free will?

Furthermore, when one gets a flash of inspiration, or intuition, a gut instinct - from where arises these feelings? Certainly not from the mind, they wouldn't be called gut instincts if they didn't arise outside the mind closer to the gut !! It is Paramatama Himself who guides us from within, He invisibly guides us on the inside in the form of intuition which most blindly believe originates from themselves and It is also Paramatama Himself guiding our path from the outside through His choice of our birthplace and family. At all times Paramatama alone guides us invisibly in the direction of our karma, even though we have an intense impression of free will created by His own design via mind, ego and senses which having no separate or individual existence of their own live within and are Him alone.

Ultimately we must continue to live actively within the world of apparent duality - although with calm inner detachment like the flame of a candle inside a glass in the middle of a storm. Passiveness and fatalism in reaction to the predestined nature of universe are for the ignorant, for the man of discrimination realizes that he has free will and unlimited choice at the level of his true higher Self which is Paramatama who has created this smaller self in the form of a human body for Self-expression and Self-experience. So the man of clear vision consciously surrenders to his own higher Self which is the Paramatama within everything, and consciously becomes a purer and clearer channel for Paramatama to experience Himself through this human form in any manner He chooses.

In this manner the saints and mystics of the world at times even allow Paramatama to martyr their bodies as an example to others, realizing that this whole world spectacle is nothing but God's endless and divine play with Himself - recognizing that Paramatama alone is their own true Self and of all others, they allow their higher Self to do whatever it desires through them).

Whatever extension of the world that is visible, that all is Thou O' Lord. * Pg 51: 78-81.

The entire world is engrossed in evil deeds and virtuous deeds. Above both is the saint of God. Hardly anyone understands this. * Pg 51: 95-100.

The Guru is Omnipotent and the Guru is Infinite. It is through the greatest good luck that His view is had. Imperceptible and Immaculate is the Guru. None else is as great as the Guru. The Guru is the Creator and the Guru is the Doer. It is through the Guru that true glory is obtained. Nothing is beyond the jurisdiction of the Guru. Whatever the Guru desires, that comes to pass. The Guru is the place of pilgrimage, Guru is the Elysian Tree, and the Guru is the fulfiller of desire. Guru, the Giver, grants God's Name wherewith the entire world is saved. The Guru is potent to do everything and the Guru Himself is the formless Lord. The Guru is high, unfathomable and limitless. * Pg 52

The Guru and God are One and the Divine Guru is contained amongst all. They who are pre-destined reflect over the Lord's Name. * Pg 53: 88-95

Thou Thyself art the pure pearl and Thyself the devotee and intercessor. By the Word of the Guru, the Invisible One is praised and seen in every heart. Thou Thyself art the ocean ad the ship and Thyself this shore and the yonder one.f* Pg 54: 9-21.

The Creator alone is seen to be Eternal. All others continue coming and going. Thou, O' Lord ! art by Thyself Pure, Thou hast tied down and engaged others in secular pursuits. * Pg 54: 32-43.

By Lord's Fiat all are created and by His Fiat they perform various functions. Under His command they are in the power of Death and under His command they are absorbed in the True God. Nanak, whatever please Him, that comes to pass. Nothing is in the power of these creatures. * Pg 55: 40-54.

They who recognize their own self (Paramatama), find the Lord's Mansion in the good place of their home heart. Imbued with the True Name, the True One is obtained. * Pg 56: 60-84.

Nanak, the One Lord is pervading everywhere. There is no second whatsoever. * Pg 57: 43-46.

The mortal comes to know all the hidden and the apparent, if he keeps his mind centered at One Place. If man finds such a True Guru, then he easily causes him to meet the Lord. * Pg 57: 3-13.

Everyone craves for happiness and none ask for misery. Immense anguish comes in the wake of pleasures, but the self-willed understand it not. * Pg 57: 32-39.

By recognizing his own self, man abides in his own home and his ego and desire depart. Nanak, blotless and exonerated are they. Who are imbued with the Name of God. * Pg 57: 86-96.

As long as truth enters not man's mind, till then he gains not Lord's presence. * Pg 58: 58-63.

Within our minds, why should we forget Him who is the mainstay of all the beings? * Pg 58: 97-100.

Without the Guru, one's own self cannot be known. By merely saying and hearing, what can be achieved? * Pg 58: 22-27

The fearful ocean of the world is arduous and dreadful, It has neither a shore nor the yonder end. It has no boat, no raft, no pole and no boatman. The True Guru is the only ship on the fearful sea whose merciful glance takes men across * Pg 59: 23-36.

Man comes (is born), goes (dies) and is goaded into existences. He acts in accordance with his past actions. How can the pre-natal writ be obliterated, when the writ is written under the Lord's will? * Pg 59: 75-86.

O' my mind ! enshrine such love for God as the fish has for water. The more the water, the more the happiness and the greater the peace of mind, body and frame (the fish feels). Without water she (the fish) cannot live for an instant. The Lord knows the suffering of her mind. * Pg 60: 39-53.

Understanding comes not to the perverse person. Unto the pious person the Lord is ever close at hand. The self-willed make calculations. But it is only what the Creator does that comes to pass. * Pg 60.

He who recognizes God within himself and is pierced through with his name is satisfied. When man understands his own self through the Guru, what more is left for him to do or to get done? Why speak of uniting with the Lord those who are already in union with Him. They are satisfied by receiving His Name. * Pg 60: 61-78.

By continually reading books men commit mistakes and by wearing religious garbs, they take great pride. What does it avail to man to bathe at a place of pilgrimage, when the filth of self-conceit is within his mind. Who except the Guru can explain that God, the King and Emperor abides within man's mind. By reflecting over the reality through the Guru, the wealth of Lord's love is attained to. *Pg 61: 50-72.

Whatever is seen, that shall depart. Have not affection for the false shows. * Pg 61: 63-68.

The perverse person deems the daughters, sons and relatives to be his own. His is pleased on beholding his wife. But they bring weal couple with woe. The pious persons are imbued with God's Name and day and night they enjoy the Lord's elixir. The mind of the unstable and wavering infidel wanders in quest of transitory wealth. Men ruin themselves by their search without while the Thing is in the sacred place of their home. The pious receive it in their lap, whilst the perverse miss it through ego. O' vicious mammon worshipper ! Recognize thy own origin. * Pg 63.

As a man goes astray in dream at night, till his sleep lasts, so does go amiss the mortal within whose heart is ego and love of duality and who is in the grip of the mammon-serpent (Maya). Through Guru's instruction, does mortal realize and see that this world is but a dream. * Pg 63: 50-69.

I am terrified on beholding the terrible mountain in my father's home (this world). High and difficult to ascend the mountain. No ladder is there which will reach it. Through the Guru, I have recognized the Mountain within me. The Guru has united me with Him and I am saved. * Pg 63.

They who are so preordained by God, the Creator, by Guru's instruction get absorbed in the Name. * Pg 65: 12-18.

Attachment of mammon (duality) is the creation of my Master, and He Himself misleads man into an illusion. * Pg 67: 69-75.

Through truth, man merges in his real Self in his home and death's myrmidon can devour him not. Nam Dev the calico-printer and Kabir the weaver obtained salvation from the perfect Guru. By recognizing His Name, they became the knowers of God and lost their ego and caste. Demigods and men sing their hymns. None can erase them O' Brother. Prahlad the demon's son read not of religious rites and austerities, for he knew not duality. On meeting the True Guru, he became pure and uttered God's name night and day. He read only of One God, realized the One Name and knew no other second. * Pg 67: 12-57.

In Maya (worldly attachment) mental equilibrium springs not. The worldly attachment produces duality. The wayward perform religious rites but they are burnt down by self-conceitedness. Their birth and death cease not, they come and go again and again. * Pg 68.

In the three dispositions Equipoise is not obtained. The three modes lead astray the mortal in doubt. What do reading, studying and talking avail a man if he misses the very Origin? In the fourth state there is Spiritual Bliss and the Guruwards obtain it in their sheet. * Pg 68: 17-34.

(The above states refer to the 4 states of consciousness within the human frame: 1. The waking dream whereby one is happy or sad according to the external circumstances, inner tendencies, etc. 2. The sleeping dream whereby one is happy or sad according to the creations of one's own mind. 3. Dreamless sleep - whereby there is no dream, just deep rest. 4. Awakening from all the dreams, the Self-realization of the Atma (soul) that it has always been one with Paramatama (God).

The world has gone astray in doubt. Thou Thyself, O' Lord ! hast misled it. * Pg 72: 55-60.

Thou Thyself hast created the universe and setting afoot the play of duality hast exhibited it. The Truest of the true is pervading everywhere. He instructs him whom He is pleased with. * Pg 73: 21-31.

I have become the Master of the village (body), and I have taken prisoner it's five rivals (senses). I have entered Thine sanctuary O' Lord ! * Pg 73: 34-38.

God Himself causes mortal to do evil deeds and good ones. In the power of this being lies nothing. * Pg 77: 8-12.

The body is the field of action in this age. Whatever one sows, that he eats (reaps). * Pg 78: 40-47.

Profitable are the entire lives of those who by Guru's teaching have conquered their minds by throwing the dice of the Name. * Pg 78: 38-44.

With thy sight behold in every heart, the Lord of the world-forest who is fully pervading the ocean and land. Nanak gives thee a counsel, O' my dear soul ! burn thy scepticism in the society of saints. O' dear mind ! my friend, without God all the ostentation is false. O' dear mind ! my friend, the world is an ocean of poison. * Pg 79: 48-66.

Having created the universe, that Lord abides there-in. * Pg 83: 62-65.

The worth of Him who is in the universe cannot be known. Even if one were to know the value he cannot describe it then. People think of religious laws and regulations. But without understanding God, how can they swim across (the world of duality)? Make faith thy bowing and let the conquest of mind be thy aim of life. In whatever direction I see, I find God present in that direction. * Pg 84: 71-94.

Indulging in excessive ego, the entire world has perished. The worldly wealth goes not with anyone. * Pg 84: 22-27.

Through attachment to duality, the foolish, blind and stupid persons putrefy to death. They fall as worms unto odure and perish over and over again there-in. * Pg 85: 19-31.

Thou Thyself has created the entire creation and reachest sustenance to it. Some eat by practising deceit and fraud, and from their mouth drop falsehood and untruth. Thou hast put them to that task and they do that work which pleaseth Thy ownself. To some Thou hast explained truthfulness, and to them Thou hast given inexhaustible treasures there-of. Profitable is the advent of those who eat by remembering God. They who remember not the Lord stretch out their hand to beg. * Pg 85: 42-80.

Through love of worldly valuables, the foolish mind has forgotten God's Name, and he shall be awarded punishment. He never thinks of Him who gave him the soul and body and who provides all with sustenance. The noose of death shall not be cut from his neck and he shall continue to come and go over and over again. The blind self-willed man understands nothing and practices what is predestined for him. * Pg 85.

By Guru's instruction, one recognizes his own self, and the light of the Lord's Name comes into him. The true man practices truth. The greatness is with the great Lord. He glorifies and supplicates the Lord to whom belong his soul, body and everything. * Pg 86: 42-55.

The foolish and ignorant man recognizes not the Creator who is within his self. Because of the love of duality, he instructs the world and himself understands not Divine Knowledge. He loses his life in vain and dies and is born again and again. * Pg 86: 6-18.

Nanak, he is the brave warrior who has subdued his vicious inner ego. * Pg 86: 63-68.

Attached to ego and duality, man has forgotten the Master. * Pg 86: 92-96.

Nanak, he whom God unites with Himself separates not from Him and is easily absorbed in Him. He is the man of God's sect who knows the Auspicious Master and by Guru's grace recognizes his own self. He restrains his wandering mind, and brings the one God in his heart-home. He remains dead whilst alive and repeats the Name of God. Sublime is such a devotee. He is absorbed in the True Lord O' Nanak. * Pg 88:

Again, this universe is nothing but the Self-expression and Self-experiencing of the infinite Paramatama. This truth should be contemplated again and again, from beginning to end so that although engaged in diverse activities, one is not bound if one's consciousness is saturated with this reality. This truth can be stated a million different ways a million different times, but in conclusion it can be summed up as simply as -

Everything is Paramatama, because Paramatama is everything.
